You could mail order Gibsons too, I think you're way off on that comment. I'm a Gibson man all over and I agree that Clapton sounded and played better with his Les Pauls and SGs etc., but ragging on Strats is out of order. There's a reason Clapton, SRV, Rory Gallagher, Dave Gilmour, Hank Marvin....I could go on but they all used Strats by choice. You clearly have no idea of what you're talking about. I'll always play my Gibsons first but my Strat will always have a special place in my heart.

Nah, they're great guitars no question. I do think it's pretty lame of Clapton plays them after making his name on Gibsons...or rather that he puts a preamp in his Strat to try and get a humbucker sound. It's pretty sad. The Strat is a great guitar in its own right but it won't provide the upfront presence and midrange of a Gibson. Listen to how light sounding the Strat is in this video; that's not just YouTube sound compression. Now listen to the original Beano album!

why does every think strats arent good guitar. i acctually prefer strats over many guitars because of how versatile they are.
