Buddy may lack "something" in your opinion, but Mayall says Buddy is an overall better player than Clapton.

There's a version of 'The Bear' on a DVD - John Mayall, Live from Austin Texas. Some other good songs - features Coco Montoya and David Grissom on guitar. The Bear was Bob Hite, singer of Canned Heat.

I always assumed it was L.J.Baldry. I am a huge Mayall fan, have been since I was in Jr. High & that`s been quite a while. I think I have all, or most,of the LP`s he made, but Laurel Canyon is my fav.Laura

Mayall's lead guitarist here is Buddy Whittington (1956). A very competent player, but like so many of these "fast" guitar players they know all the licks, but lack "something". It's that "thing" that made Clapton special, just like Freddie King, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, you name 'm...............

Are you talking about Clapton?
