It's not a true cover version though, the lyrics are different and the title differs slightly, but if you listen to both versions, you can clearly see that his song was inspired by this one.

Lennons version was the cover. Bessie Smith recorded this and many others before Lennon was even born. She also died 3 years before he was born.

Looks like this track heavily inspired John Lennon's "Nobody Loves You When You're Down & Out", not exactly a cover version, but it's very close.
