I started Violin at 26 and I have had to stop a couple times just because I didn't have a place to play or I needed repairs, but couldn't get them. Steve Martin, the comedian, inspired me to play. He said that he knew he started late, but he figured that if he played until he was 60 that by that time he would be great as long as he didn't quit. Now he tours the country with the Flatt&Scruggs which is the most famous band using his instrument(banjo) and he is actually very good.

To clarify, eighth grader around here does not mean grade 8 in music standards. And I don't know if you have separate schools for music students, or not, so it's difficult for me to draw a parallel. I just know that it's best to find out where someone comes from before calling them an idiot for saying something that you could possibly have misunderstood.

With all due respect, I think you are the one who misunderstood with your original reply to a comment made by another American. The misunderstanding stems from a difference in educational systems and the language itself. The term used in the post to which you originally responded was "eighth grader", i.e. "student in the 9th year of their education" which as you rightly point out has nothing to do with "grade 8". Where I live, that usually means they've only studied music for about 3-4 years.

you dont understand what i said im talking about grade 8 in music standards. once you pass grade 8 you would go on to do a diploma. im not talking about her age silly!
